Obituary for Peter Bailey Squiers

Peter Bailey Squiers, 70, of Chatham (formerly of Norfolk & Medfield, MA), died after a lengthy illness on Friday, January 20th, 2017 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born December 24, 1946 in Newton MA, he was the son of Alida Blood Myette and the late Stanley Weston Squiers. Peter graduated from the Medfield Public High School with the class of 1965. Following high school, Peter attended Wentworth Institute prior to enlisting in the United States Navy serving our country during the Vietnam War. He served from April 1966 to April 1972.
Peter was a talented, skillful and accomplished self-employed Finish Carpenter for over 30 years before becoming employed by Van Lumber Company performing Interior Finish Product Sales.
Among his many interests, Peter was an avid boater and fisherman, as well as an antique car enthusiast.
After growing up in Medfield, he moved to Norfolk where he began raising his family. Upon his retirement he moved to Chatham, MA. Above all else, his children were his greatest pride.
He is survived by his fiancée, Danita Pawlowski Scribner, formerly of Medway; his two children, son Zachary Squiers and his fiancée, Erin O’Donnell of Medfield, and Liane Raymond and her husband Michael of Rockland, whom he shared with former spouse Marlene Boughton Hughes of Berkley; his mother, Alida Blood Myette of York ME; two sisters, Wendy Eichelberger of York ME and Betsy Wittmann of Rochester NH and York ME. He was the grandfather of Benjamin Bailey Raymond. He also leaves many nieces and nephews: Carrie L’Abbe of Rollingsford NH, Katie Davis of Missoula Montana, Cari Teague of Millis MA, Kurt Bonetti of Bellingham MA, Kelly Bonetti of Medway MA, Lindsay Walsh of Nantucket MA, David Walsh of Dorchester MA, Matthew Bonetti of Dorchester MA, and Michael Bonetti of Los Angeles CA. In addition, Peter leaves many cousins, aunts, and extended family members. Peter is predeceased by his father Stanley W. Squiers and his brothers’- in-law William Eichelberger and Dr. R. Peter Wittmann.
A Remembrance of Peter took place on January 27th, 2017 at Finnegan’s Wake in Walpole, MA. A Celebration of Life is being planned for the Spring.
