Condolence From: Stephen Rogerson
Condolence: George Blanche's military background was as a Cannon Crewman in the Field Artillery. He started out while a senior in high school in the Massachusetts Army National Guard in Brockton. There were two field artillery batteries there. This was from 1983 - 1986.I know much of this, as I was in his unit in Fire Direction Control and we were always friends from 9th grade.
In 1986, he transferred to the regular army and was station at Fort Hood Texas with the 1st Cavalry Division. In 1987, George was sent to Augsburg Germany and was with the 17th Field Artillery Brigade (7th Corps). He ended his military career after he left Germany and outprocessed from Fort Dix, NJ.
He was a good soldier and received an honorable discharge.

Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. George was a genuinely good guy with a heart of gold. Although I hadn't seen him in many years, we corresponded on FB and I had come to see what a devoted father he was and also what a wonderful friend he was to have. I was so sorry when he suffered the loss of his daughter and his devastation was palpable. It was truly heartbreaking to see how lost and heartbroken he was. My hope is that he is now with those who passed before him and whom he loved with all of his being. May you all find some peace in your memories of happy times with him and in knowing that he's reunited with his beautiful daughter.
