Donald Graham Husband, West Harwich. Born Belmont, MA. 11/20/1932-12/4/2017 Sandwich, MA.
Don was born and raised in Belmont, he sang in the boys choir at the Church of Emmanuel in Boston, MA. He was a Flight Engineer in th U.S.A.F. and had fond memories and stories of his time in the service. He was an Auto Mechanic and operated the Flying A Gas Station in Dennisport as a young newly married man to his bride, Jean Hyde of Newton (predeceased). They had four children, Donald Husband Jr., Hyannis, Elizabeth Alexander, Plymouth, David Husband, Harwich, Amy Husband, Harwich (predeaced). He was the shop foreman for the Robert B Our Co. and shop foreman for Robert Joy Co, both in Harwich. Don started his own company, Pump It Manf. where he designed and built vacuum pumpers in South Yarmouth. He enjoyed the White Mountains of N.H. and the family spent summers there in the Lake Region of Newfound Lake. He enjoyed Real Estate and finding new properties to spark his love of nature, history, and preservation. He was a gifted tenor and was often heard singing Danny Boy and other Mario Lanza favorites. Don was predeceased by his second wife, Mary Virginia Thompson of Harwich and they were often seen pressing apples for cider and making homemade ice cream together. Don was also famous for his Chatham fried scallops. He was not one to retire and in his 60's he turned the old Chase property into a thriving Antique business, the Harwich Antiques Center which he operated for many years sharing his love for antiques, restoration, and commerce with the many who frequented the center. He credited his older brother, Captain Robert Husband (predeceased)for his appreciation of N.H. and antiques as well as his mother, Pauline Vigneau (predeceased) and they all spent many happy years exploring the land and antique shops of N.H. Don is predeceased by his father, Alexander Husband of Belmont, his sister Jessie Husband Bruening of St. Paul, MN, and his grandson, Joshua Husband of Plymouth. He is survived by his brother, William Husband of Yarmouth. Funeral Services will be held on April 2, 2019 at The MA National Cemetary in Bourne, MA, Bennington Blv. at 12:30 pm.
