Obituary for Richard Schwartz

FALMOUTH - Richard John Schwartz, the most amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend that anyone could ask for, passed away on February 15, 2018. His infectious smile, dry sense of humor, and mustache will long be remembered. He is the best man we have ever known.
Richard is survived by his wife Jean Canty Schwartz; their three sons Michael J. Schwartz and his wife Sarah, and their son Henry, Jared M. Schwartz, and Devin J. Schwartz and his wife Megan; his two brothers Stephen P. Schwartz and Donald I. Schwartz, as well as their wives and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was born in New Rochelle, NY on May 19, 1948 to Margery (Hoffman) Schwartz and the late Sidney Schwartz. He graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford, CT in 1966. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1970 with a degree in Mathematics and a MS in Computer Science in 1972. He then went on to graduate from Suffolk Law School in 1975, and spent the majority of his technology law career with Data General and Communica. Additionally, he was an adjunct faculty member at Cape Cod Community College for several years.
Richard was an avid cyclist and participated in the Pan Mass Challenge for 6 years, raising over $25,000 for cancer research, while riding over 900 miles. He also volunteered for 4 years, once he could no longer ride. Richard had a passion for astronomy and always had his eyes towards the stars, particularly while hunting down the International Space Station.
He will be forever missed and always in our hearts. We will look to the stars whenever we think of him and miss him. Maybe one day his mustache will get a constellation of its own.
In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family has requested donations be made to the Pan Mass Challenge in Richard’s name via this link: http://pmc.org/egifts/DS0447
