Alan “Rosie” Twieraga, 63, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, October 21, 2016.
He was born in Plymouth, a life-long resident, the son of the late Walter and Rose (Gallerani) Twieraga, attended the Cold Spring and Nathaniel Morton schools, graduated from Plymouth Carver High School, Class of ’72.
He and the love of his life, Mary were a true team “in sickness and in health”. They could usually be found walking along his beloved waterfront , with their children and later on with their grandchildren in hand or perhaps riding their motorcycles to neighboring South Coast beaches or going for ice cream. His happiest moments were the ones spent with his family.
Alan was employed for 25 years as a Personal Assistant at L. Knife & Son. He leaves behind his wife Mary Jane (Demeritt) Twieraga, his children, Mia Twieraga, Travis Twieraga and his partner, Tiffany Gunderway, all of Plymouth. He was the loving grandfather of Skyla, Isabella and Travis, Jr., also of Plymouth. In addition, he leaves behind his brother Michael and his wife, Mary and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and dedicated staff at The Beth Israel Deaconess Hospitals in Boston and Plymouth for their compassion and support, also the Wonderful staff from the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod and Mary Jane’s devoted sister, Cheryl Carreiro for being there through Alan's illness.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 18th from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 4:00. Interment will be private.
