Obituary

Anthony F LaGreca Sr. passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born Jan 31, 1923 in Marlborough MA to Onofrio and Anna (Santosperio) LaGreca being the youngest of eleven. Moving to Cambridge in his early youth. His family then came to Duxbury, when he was thirteen. He attend the Duxbury School system and graduated in 1940. He was then enlisted into the Army and served overseas in Germany, Belgium and France as a gunner and a rifleman. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, and received numerous medals including the CIB Combat Infantry Badge. Returning home he started a poultry business with his brother Nick. They also owned and trained racehorses. In 1948 he met his beautiful Norwegian love of his life Ellie (Olsen). They married in 1949, and spent sixty seven happily married years together residing in Duxbury. After selling the poultry business he went on to work at the General Dynamic Fore River Shipyard, until he then advanced to an Iron Worker for Local 7 in South Boston until he retired. In retirement he went to work for his loving nephew Tony in his vacuum business, and was able to work alongside his loving nephew Sonny. He used to say “It was the best job he ever had”. He was a lifetime member of the Duxbury American Legion Post 223 and in his early years he coached for the Duxbury Little League. He was a devoted Pats and Red Sox fan, an avid reader, history buff, storyteller, and had such a great sense of humor. He was the most kind, loving, helpful and a truly devoted family man.
He is predeceased by his wife Ellie (Olsen) LaGreca, daughter Elizabeth LaGreca, son Anthony (Tonio) LaGreca, grandson Nicholas LaGreca and all ten of his brothers and sisters. He leaves behind his loving daughter Susan and Son in-law Tracy Morrison of Duxbury. Beloved grandsons. Paul & Katie (Johnson) Morrison, and his dear great grandchildren Avery and Tyler all of Kingston. His beloved grandson Kyle Morrison of Duxbury. And so many loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be Sunday May 12th from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, May 13th at 11:00 at the Funeral Home. Burial to follow at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
