Obituary for Arthur L Ribeiro

Arthur Louis Ribeiro, known to most as Rocky, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2022, at the age of 97. He was born to the late Antonio and Virginia (Arujo) Ribeiro on September 26, 1924, in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

He graduated from Plymouth Schools in 1942, and enlisted in the U.S. Army, alongside his late brothers, Eddie & Anthony Ribeiro. He served as a combat medic during World War II in 1943, and was attached to the Medical Detached 12th Infantry Regiment. He participated in the Rhineland Ardennes Central Europe Campaign. He was awarded a Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, along with a Bronze Star.

He later went on to work at L. Knife & Son in Kingston for over 40 years, alongside Jerry and Maureen Sheehan. Rocky enjoyed taking many trips with his nephew Dennis. He was an avid bowler and loved watching many sports.

Rocky was a member of the Eddie Ribeiro American Legion Post 40, named after his brother. He was also a Senior member of the Garibaldi Club and the oldest member of the Cristoforo Colombo Club.

He is survived by his nephew Dennis Ribeiro, and his wife Doreen, his niece Diane Hart, and her husband Chris, his great niece and nephew, Erin and Kevin Ribeiro, and great-great nieces, Emma and Hanna Gleason, and Cassidy Ribeiro.

Services will be private, per Rocky's wishes.
