Obituary for Brian David Dwyer

Brian David Dwyer 12/14/1937-3/21/2023

After a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Brian left us peacefully in his home with his
family supporting his journey back to God.

Brian grew up in Scituate, MA the son of Harold and Dorothy Knox Dwyer, with his brothers
Kenny and Dean and his sister Karen. Brian married Sheila Nelson of Scituate in 1960 and
raised a family of 6 including Maureen, Tim, Missy, Tracey, Troy and Shane while living in
Marshfield. Longing for his home town they moved the family back to Scituate in 1975 where
they stayed before retiring to Plymouth. He loved his son in law Chuck and daughter in-law
Karen like his children. Brian had 11 grandchildren, Carly, Pat, Matt, John, Michael, Danny,
Jake, Hailey, Bella, Ava and Hannah. Brian also lived to see 5 great grandchildren, Finnegan,
Mason, Weston, Leo and Vivian.

Serving in the United States Marine Corp. was something Brian was very proud of. Brian was a
commercial fisherman in Scituate having many boats and crews that he shared his love of the
ocean with. His favorite crews where his children. There was almost always a boat in the yard
that he would fix up and when they moved to Plymouth and didn’t have room in the yard for a
boat, he began restoring antique and hot rod cars with his brother Dean. Brian was an
incredibly talented carpenter and craftsman. He built amazing houses, furniture and boat
models from a block of wood. Brian also taught woodworking classes at night in Scituate High
School.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Mary’s in Scituate on Friday, March 24th at 10:00am
