Obituary for Carol Jean Livingston

To all who knew her, Carol was a unique, loving and remarkably talented individual. She was passionate from her artwork, to her love of nature and family. Her artwork evolved over the years from different medias to different subjects. Pen and ink drawings, watercolors, acrylics to oil all showing her own creativity. Still life, nature including flowers and beach scenes were included in her work. She was a member of many art associations.

Carol loved nature, found many walking trails on the Cape to explore and enjoyed the sights and sounds. She enjoyed daily swims at many local beaches. The Vineyard was another special spot she enjoyed for beaches, dining and special cocktails made by Donovan. She especially loved traveling to Florida in the winter to stay with family and swim in the gulf. She loved a good martini along with a nice grouper sandwich, while listening to a live band. Irish music was her favorite which she listened to at various locations near her home in Yarmouth. She had an eclectic group of friends, all unique and creative like her whom she spent walking and visiting with. She was also part of a bowling league which she loved and made many new friends there.

Anyone who knew Carol was used to her fighting spirit, whether over environmental issues, politics or sports. However, sports especially the Patriots was her favorite team, she would even travel to Maine to watch before all the games were televised locally. Her creativity had no limits. A “bucket list” item was to see a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium. With the cost of tickets, she knew she wouldn’t be able to see a live game, so she wrote to the late Myra Kraft and bartered - 2 tickets to a game, for a painting.

Of course, her favorite passion was her grandchildren whom she referred to as her darlings. She enjoyed each of them individually. Her sweet Emma, to entertaining Sean and spirited Avery. She took them on many adventures in the Cape, traveled to North Andover for their various sports and spoiled them with their first Disney trip.

Carol came from a large family; she was one of seven siblings raised in Reading Massachusetts. She graduated from RMHS and Vesper George School of Art in Boston. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Anastasia Livingston of Reading. Besides her grandchildren, she is survived by her loving daughter Christy and husband Michael Damour of North Andover. Her siblings Kenneth Livingston of Dennis, Richard Livingston of Irvington New York, Robert Livingston and wife Carol of Waynesville Ohio, Diane McLaughlin and husband John of Centerville MA, Barbara King and husband Kenneth of Quincy MA, and Jack Livingston and wife Sharlee of Chappaquiddick Martha's Vineyard MA. Carol had many nieces and nephews she loved very much.
