Obituary for Catherine Anna Mayo (Fitzgerald)

Catherine (Kay) Anna Mayo of Centerville, Massachusetts, had loved ones by her side when she died peacefully in her home on May 4, 2019 at the age of 93.

Kay will be remembered by her friends and family as a force. She had a sharp wit, kind heart, clever mind, and resilient spirit.

Kay would not want flowery praise or sad goodbyes, but she’d want to thank the people who stood beside her in life and death, especially her devoted daughter, family, close friends and the people who cared for her during her illness. Kay would likely advise those who mourn her to dry our tears, cherish the beauty in life while we can still see, to get up and get going while we are able, to let go of things that don’t serve us well, to love well and laugh often, and that none of us are promised an easy life, but all of us can make it a good life.

Kay is survived by her children Bob, Chris and Meg Mayo, six grandchildren and many other family and friends. Kay joins her beloved daughter, Cathy, and parents, Phyllis and Fred FitzGerald in heaven.

A mass to celebrate Kay’s life will be held Friday, May 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 S Main St., Centerville, MA.

The family would appreciate donations to The Hospice and Palliative Care Federation of Massachusetts to support the angels who dedicate their lives to making the end of life a gentle journey.

Kay Mayo lived a good, long life. She will be missed but never forgotten.
