Obituary for Chad McGee

Chad E. McGee, 47, passed away peacefully on Monday July 24th, 2023. After years of battling Parkinson’s disease he is now at home with the lord and his loved ones who have passed before him. He was born November 26th, 1975, in Atlanta Georgia, the son of Salice McGee Russom and John McGee. Chad McGee lost his Father who was just 40 years old to a heart attack just after they had completed a road race together. Grief stricken he kept going no matter what. This started to shape the man he would later become.

Chad graduated from Cobb County High School, Class of 1994. He was an athlete, runner, and a wrestling state champion. Following graduation he enlisted in the USMC on December 12, 1994.

Chad always said that the Marine Core helped change his destiny and made him become the hardworking man he was known to be.

Chad made Massachusetts his home. He was a man of many trades, a master tiler who owned his own tile and remodeling business and served as a fire fighter for the Plymouth Fire Department for almost 15 years. He loved to serve the community and being a firefighter was something he was very proud of. He worked hard as possible to support his family.

Chad fell ill in 2016 and had a triple bypass surgery and shortly after that he was diagnosed with early onset advanced atypical Parkinsons disease/ Lewy body dementia. Chad faced every day of this fast moving furious disease with fight. He was told he would pass in 2017 and he fought hard for another 6 years to be around for his family.

Chad McGee was a loving and supportive husband to his wife Lauren McGee, and Father to all 6 of his children. Gage McGee who was his first born was killed in a tragic incident on New Year’s Eve in 2014 at the age of 18, just 20 days before his 19th birthday. Chad was forever changed by that huge loss. Gage is greatly missed by all of his family and all his sisters he left behind. Chad also had 5 beautiful daughters Brittany McGee, Amber McGee, Brooke McGee, Lily McGee and Lula McGee. He also leaves behind his mother and step father, Salice McGee Russom and Benny Russom, brother and sister in law Tony McGee and Mandy McGee, along with his nieces and nephews Kaitlyn, John, and Will.

Chad recently lost his oldest brother Eric McGee which was yet another family member gone too soon. We now know that Chad is at peace and he rests in the arms of the Lord, with his Father, his son Gage, and his brother Eric. Chad was a fighter and he taught many people about how to live life to the fullest and to get everything you can get out of it, never knowing when your last day will be. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Arrangements are under the care of Bartlett Funeral Home. Chad will be laid to rest, at a later date, in the National Cemetery. Burial will be private.
