Stoughton: Charlotte A. (Vincent) Fernandes, 87, born on August 19, 1932, in Norwich, CT,
passed away on May 12, 2020, in Stoughton, MA, surrounded by her loving family.
Charlotte was the daughter of the late Anibal Vincent and Louisa (Williams) Vincent of Norwich,
CT. She graduated from the Norwich Free Academy (NFA) in 1950. Charlotte was married to
her late husband, Amos Fernandes, of Onset, MA, for 56 years; and resided in and raised their
family of six children in Stoughton, MA.
Charlotte was a loving mother. She is survived by her children Anthony Fernandes of NYC;
Naomi Fernandes Monkus of Raynham, MA; David Fernandes of Fayetteville, NC; Amos (Skip)
Fernandes, Jr. of Virginia; Elizabeth Fernandes Correllus and husband Ray of Herndon, VA; and
Jacqueline Fernandes of Boston, MA. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren;
Sarah Fernandes, Emmanuel Vincent Fernandes, Christian Flores, Daria and Alexandra
Monkus, and Caleb and Curtis Correllus, and to her great-grandchildren; Noe, Alina, Naomi,
Lily, Domenic, and Emmanuel.
Charlotte was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She served
as a CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister in the Church and her community at local hospitals
and nursing care facilities for many years. She was also a committed volunteer as an English as
a Second Language (ESOL) tutor, a nursing assistant at Saint Joseph’s Manor Nursing Home,
in Brockton, MA, and an avid Boston Red Sox fan who eagerly anticipated opening day every
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Fernandes, brothers Benjamin Vincent
and Edward Vincent, and sister Rita Ransom. She is survived by her sister Marion Livramento
of Norwich, CT; brother John Vincent of New London, CT; sister-in-law Iona Vincent and many
nieces and nephews.
Charlotte will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Amos, at The Massachusetts National
Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
