Obituary for Claire Sullivan (Babson)
An angel named Claire Sullivan was born in St. Luke’s hospital in New Bedford,
Massachusetts on November 21, 1955. At her home in South Dennis combatting stage
4 stomach cancer, she left us at age 63 with beloved family at her side on Sunday,
September 29, 2019.
Our adored Claire graduated high school from Bridgewater-Raynham Regional in 1973,
then was granted her Practical Nursing License in 1974 from Bristol Plymouth. She
followed her helpful heart to pursue being a charge nurse in Mashpee before devoting
30 years to the Postal Service. However, Claire’s most fulfilling and indisputable pursuit
was being the most loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother anyone wish
they had.
Mark Sullivan met the love of his life, Claire, at the Mill Hill Club after she moved to
Cape Cod in 1977. Claire was a much loved daughter of Charles William Babson Jr.
and Gertrude Teressa Babson. Beloved mother of Mark Jr. (Jaclynn), Courtney
(Robert), Michael (Jeanie), and Cody. Cherished grandmother “Grammy” of Brayden,
Maddon, Haven, and Cameron. Dear sister of Patricia Donahue (Paul) and Gina
Giguere (Lee).
Her spirit lives on through her passion for coordinating annual Disney family trips,
enjoying beach days, country music, cooking/baking in a colorful Lilly Pulitzer dress,
and cheering on the Red Sox or Patriots with a coca cola. Regardless of Claire’s
demanding responsibilities, she never failed to miss her children’s baseball, football,
basketball, or field hockey games- always there.
Claire’s selfless heart and compassion towards others will be missed immensely by all
who know and loved her. The world is a lesser place without her but we are so grateful
she has been relieved of the pain she endured. She will always be on our minds,
forever in our hearts.
Please join us on Friday, October 4th for a celebration of Claire's life from 4-6 pm at the
Dennis Highlands Golf Course.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome for a college fund for her beloved
grandchildren.
