Colleen radiated the essence of love and light. She was a generous and selfless
woman, always putting the needs of others before her own. She lived with a spark
of joy in her heart and had the special gift of being able to share it with others.
Colleen was born in Stewart County, TN to the late Joseph Raymond and Dixie
Moore Harris. Her childhood was spent helping on the farm and attending school. In
1953, Colleen packed her bags and ventured off to Washington DC, where she was
employed by the FBI and then the Navy Department. Little did she know, this move
would change the course of her life. While in DC, she attended a USO dance
designed to entertain the GIs stationed there. She was reluctant to attend but as fate
would have it, she met the love of her life and future husband, Mark Avery Andrews.
That magical dance evolved into 63 years of a glorious love story, including raising 4
children in Duxbury, MA. Now reunited with the sweetheart she lost 14 months ago,
the dancing can begin again!
In addition to her parents, Colleen is preceded in death by her adoring husband of
63 years, Mark Avery Andrews and brother Cleveland “Teetle” Harris. Survivors
include brothers, Bill Harris (Pia) and Melvin Harris (Sue), sister, Shirley Moore
(Calvin), daughter, Laura Andrews, son Stephen Andrews (Michelle), son David
Andrews (Kathy) and daughter Janice Hanrahan as well as 6 grandchildren: Sarah
Andrews, Kaitlin Goebel (Brian), Nicole Hanrahan, Jackie Hanrahan, Ryan Andrews
and Josh Andrews.
