Obituary for Edward Joseph Burke

Edward “Joe” Burke, 56, of Marshfield, MA, passed away suddenly on January 24,
2021. Beloved son of the late Bernard M., Jr. and the late Jacqueline (Wallace) Burke.
Loving father of Kevin of New York, NY, Jillian of South Boston, MA, and Michael of
Canton, MA. Dear brother of John and his wife Mary of Albany, NY, Kristen Grant and
her husband Warren of Maspeth, NY, Thomas and his wife Tracy of Sutton, MA. Uncle
to Taylor Grant and Sara Burke. Joe was raised in Newton, MA. He was a “double
eagle” having graduated from Boston College High School and Boston College. He
earned a Master of Arts degree in Technical and Professional Writing from Northeastern
University in 1997. Joe was known for his sharp wit and was a talented writer. He was
a published author of the satirical novel, “How Hollywood Killed JFK,” and wrote many
short stories and poems. He also wrote and delivered touching, yet humorous wedding
toasts and eulogies for family members and friends. Joe loved following BC hockey,
especially hearing and telling stories from his father’s Boston College National
Championship hockey team, the “Dream Team” of 1949. Former employee of the
National Association of Government Employees (NAGE). Arrangements will be private.
A memorial mass will be held on a later date.
