Obituary for Edward Thomas Van Keuren

Edward T. Van Keuren, 83, passed peacefully after a brief illness on April 26, 2022, at the McCarthy Care
Center.

He was born in Houlton, Maine on August 19, 1938, the son of Edward T. Van Keuren, Sr. and Lillian (O’Hare)
Van Keuren. He grew up in Houlton and Westfield, Massachusetts. He was a resident of East Falmouth since
1995.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Dranchak) Van Keuren.

He was the devoted father of daughters Mary Beth and her husband James McElreavy of Warren, Maine.
Cynthia and her husband John Arnold of Westborough, his son Edward and his wife Alison of Mattapoisett and
his wife's son Bruce Meyer of East Falmouth. He also leaves his granddaughter Briana and grandson Cooper of Westborough, and granddaughter Zoe and grandsons Nolan and Cabot of Mattapoisett.
He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Anne of Westfield, MA.

He attended Worcester Junior College, Clark University and the University of Hartford. He was a graduate of
the National Defense University.

He served over 30 years in the U.S. Air Force & the Air National Guard retiring as a Colonel. He served at Air Force Bases in France, North Africa, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Iceland, Kessler AFB in Mississippi and retired
from Otis ANG Base in 1993.

He retired from the Raytheon Company as a Radar Systems Project Engineer/Manager in 1995. He worked on
and managed large radar and communications systems, which were installed at Houma AFS, LA; W. Virginia;
California; Hawaii; Central Germany; Cape Cod AF Station; Beale AFB, CA; Virginia; Amchitka Island, Aleutian
Islands, AK; Texas and Puerto Rico.

He then started his own consulting firm and retired from there in 2009.

He was appointed as a member of the Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals and served until his passing.
He was also appointed as a member to the Falmouth Veterans’ Council Committee and served until 2021.
He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, American Legion Post #188 in Sandwich,
Elks Lodge #2380 in Falmouth and the Otis Civilian Advisory Council.

A graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday, May 19th at
11:15 am.
