Obituary for Eleanor S Emond (DeFilippo)

Eleanor S. (De Filippo) Emond, 88, of Kingston, Mass., died Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at The Inn at Silver Lake assisted living facility.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on September 25, 1931, to the late Francisco and Elisa (Leo) De Filippo, she was raised in the North End and graduated from the Practical Arts High School in Roxbury. Over the years, she resided in Dorchester, Randolph, Milton, West Bridgewater, Bradenton, Fla., and Kingston.

Eleanor served as president of Astrovision of New England, Inc. that she and her late husband founded. She previously worked at her parents’ pizza shop, Flips, in the North End and she owned the Elephant House ice cream shop in Dorchester.

She enjoyed playing poker and rummy with family, bingo with her sisters, crossword puzzles, family parties, and vacationing in the Bahamas where many fun memories were made. She was also an avid reader, seamstress, and an unbeatable Scrabble player. More recently, she showed a love for painting and crafts. Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, auntie, and wife. She was always willing to listen and offer her wisdom and support. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, kindness, and compassion.

Beloved wife of the late Edward W. Emond and former wife of the late Rafiaele A. Mazzucco, she was the devoted mother to the late Pamela A. (Mazzucco) Poisson, the late Antonio R. Mazzucco, and Rafiaele A. Mazzucco; loving grandmother of Rafiaele Mazzucco, Christopher A. Poisson, Leanora (Poisson) Fraser, and Antonio L. Mazzucco; and cherished great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. She was the youngest and last of 15 siblings to pass and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In light of current events, a celebration of life and burial service will be held at a later date.
