Obituary

Florence J. (Balls) Smith, age 82, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Wedgemere Healthcare in Taunton, MA.

Florence, known as Flo to family and friends, was born in Great Yarmouth, England, one of nine children. She moved to the US in her 30s and lived in various states as part of a military family before settling in Somerset, MA with her sister Joan and brother-in-law Larry.

Flo loved animals and enjoyed reading, music, a good round of play on the slot machines and a big plate of English fish and chips. She had a feisty personality and great sense of humor that kept those around her laughing. She will be sorely missed.

Flo is survived by her son, Stephen Smith, and grandchildren Sebastian and Lily Smith of Dayton, OH; two sisters June Towner of Saratoga Springs, NY, and Rose Garcia of Corpus Christi, TX; two brothers Freddie and Michael Balls of Great Yarmouth, England and many nieces, nephews and friends in the US and England.

Flo was also the sister of the late Joan M (Balls) DeCambra of Somerset, MA and Jimmy, George and Derek Balls of Great Yarmouth, England.

She will be buried in a private ceremony at Newport Memorial Park in Middletown, RI
