Frank Russell Connolly of Mashpee, formerly of Hyannis and Needham, passed away peacefully on
Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the age of 89 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Sheila
(Courage) and father of Shawn Connolly (Angela), Nancy Dobe (Dennis) and Carol Connolly (Jeffrey).
Frank was a proud grandfather to Sarah, Andrew, Aaron, Claire, Ian, Liam and Abigail. Loving brother
to sister Dolores Hunt and Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Frank was born on April 2, 1931 in Barre,
Vermont to Daniel and Cora (Drew) Connolly. He graduated from Dedham High School, and received
his business degree from Boston College and was a veteran of the Korean War. On March 17, 1961, he
married Sheila Courage.
Frank worked as an industrial engineer and later owned his own business, Suburban Janitor Supply Company.
Frank was a gifted athlete his entire life. As a youth he excelled in hockey, skiing, baseball, and golf.
This passion for sports continued into his adult life and one he shared with his family. Frank and Sheila
spent many years enjoying these activities, travelling, volunteering and living a loving life
surrounded by a host of friends. In his later years on Cape Cod, Frank developed a passion for art and
spent hours taking lessons and working in his studio. He took long walks and his keen eye saw the simple
beauty of the natural world. He loved to write, and filled journals with his thoughts, stories and studies.
He was a quietly intelligent man, with a kind and compassionate spirit. He was a role model for his
children and grandchildren passing on both his humor and his work ethic. He will be greatly missed
by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will take place in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made. There are two nonprofit organizations the family has chosen.
