Obituary for Gerald Beaudet

Gerald Bright Beaudet, 77, died at home with family on February 24 t.h. He is Survived by His wife The
Rev Dr Dianne ES Carpenter Beaudet and their son Jean-Philippe Beaudet, his brother Keith Beaudet
and his children Darby, Becquel & her husband Jeff Smith of Idaho, Genevieve, Andre, Dianne’s
daughter Nicole Marie & her husband Joey Higgins of Medford and his grandson Jack Smith as well as
grandchildren Caelan, Connor, TJ and David. His parents Constance & Grosch Beaudet and his
brother Carl predeceased him.

Gerald was born at Walter Reed hospital in Washington DC and graduated from Minot High School,
North Dakota in 1963. After working in surveying with his father he joined the Airforce from 1964-1968
where he studied Russian and Weather Observation. He was honorably retired with a permanent
physical disability that he overcame each day, engaging in diverse outdoor activities and as a
Meteorological Tech with the National Weather Service. He was trained in computer programing.
During his work in the National Weather Service he was stationed in Alaska, Erie PA, Buffalo NY,
Nevada, Chatham, Worcester and Boston. He also worked in government positions in Coronado, CA
and with the Coast Guard in Boston. Prior to retirement he drove for the Cape Cod Transit Authority out
of Barnstable.

Gerry was an autodidact, Renaissance man who studied and enjoyed at various times in his life the
pursuits of gardening, coin collecting, painting, chess, fishing, theology, snow shoeing, cross country
skiing, jazz, classical music and classic cinema. Gerry was a prolific reader and had an eclectic library
including his appreciation of cartography. He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent
to the Harwich United Methodist Church Memorial Fund @ 1 Church St Harwich, MA 02645 where A
Celebration of his life and faith will be held on April 2 nd at 11:00 AM.
