Obituary for Gregory James Piekarski

Gregory James Piekarski, 75, passed away on July 28, 2022 after a brief battle with
cancer.

He was born and raised in Hingham, MA by Margueritte and Joseph Piekarski along
with his sister Sandi.

He was a proud Marine serving in Btry C, Det. A, 2 nd LAAMBn, MACG-38, 3 rd MAW,
FMFPac. His pride for the Marines was unwavering. He met his wife, Bonnie Jean
Nelson, while stationed in Huntsville, Alabama and never looked back. Bonnie’s
brothers and sister - Mike, Connie and Tom Nelson welcomed him with open arms.
They were married for 55 years.

Greg was known for his love of the golden oldies with dance moves that were a mix of
Woodstock and Jive. Embarrassing for his kids but to their friends he was cool. Greg
and Bonnie were also known for their 4 th of July celebrations on the back lawn of their
Hingham house. The main event was when Greg would light his cannon at dusk – it was
small but mighty. He was also a staunch Patriot’s fan and season ticket holder since the
1970’s. He lived through the good, the bad and the ugly with his team but never gave up
on them or his tickets.

Greg was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. If you met him once you were
family forever. The door was always open and everyone was welcome. He was a proud
Papa to 9 grandkids. Cheering each of them at their games or recitals. He was happiest
when he was in their presence.

He leaves behind his daughters, Tanya (Dave) Donahue, Marshfield; Nikki (Marc)
Kelley, Marshfield, Suzanne (Pat) Cray, Whitman and his only son and fellow Marine
Gregg (Jenny) Piekarski, Plymouth. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren,
Maggie and Claire Donahue, Brady, Megan, Sarah and Grace Kelley, Presley and Alli
Cray and Bella Piekarski.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, September 10 th , 2022 from 4-8 p.m., at
The American Legion Post 40 in Plymouth, MA. Come have some food, drinks and
share your favorite story!
