Obituary for James Francis Hunt

James Francis Hunt, 81, of Eastham, MA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 12, 2019, at The Woodlands, an assisted living community in Brewster, MA.

Jim was born on July 14, 1937, on Bastille Day, as he referred to it, being a lover of French and world history alike. He was the middle child of five born to David James Hunt and Pearl (Dennehey) Hunt in Ashland, MA. He later established a successful management career with Sears and settled down in Framingham, MA.

Jim was a man of culture. Extremely modest but opinionated, he loved music, literature/books/authors/libraries, art, movies, musicals, politics, and…most of all to have a healthy debate about any subject.

Jim had a special connection with each of his siblings. His love and friendship will be missed by sister Joyce Hunt and brother David Hunt and his wife Claire of Ashland, MA; brother Jack Hunt and his wife Gloria of Merrimack, NH; and brother Larry Hunt and his wife Mary Lou of Upton, MA. There was no question his greatest joy in life was his family daughters: Laura Hunt of Eastham, MA, Suzanne Lewis of Framingham, MA, and Jenny Taylor of Charlton, MA; and grandchildren James T. Leonard, Jr., Farrah Griffin, Brandon Gwynne, Aurora Lewis, Sebastian Nurzynski, Talia Eckbold, and Marlee Eckbold (as well as his grand-dogs Flea, Shadow, Yoda, Trinity, Chocolate, Mozart, and Malakai.)

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 20, from 12-5 pm at the American Legion, 40 Summer St. Ashland, MA 01721. Please RSVP to Laura Hunt at laurahunt150@gmail.com and let her know if you would like to share a story or remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, donations to one of the following organizations would honor Jim’s life. The Samaritans (https://samaritanshope.org/donate/), WOMR radio in Provincetown, MA (https://womr.org/product-category/memberships-and-donations/), and the Aids Support Group Cape Cod (http://asgcc.org/).
