Obituary for James Vincent O'Brien

James O’Brien, 58, died on 7/22/23 at home surrounded by loved ones after an arduous battle with cancer. Jim, a native of Boston, graduated from Newman Prep, went on to earn his master electrician license, and later earned his electrical engineering degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Jim over the years owned and ran multiple companies and worked on many prestigious projects both locally and nationally.

As of late, he was focused on permitting and developing locally so he could spend his time with family. He was always devoted to making home a vacation spot every day for his family and friends. He knew life could be short and made sure to take advantage of every minute to enjoy his family and many blessings. Whether it be pool parties in Hingham or beach parties in Plymouth, it was family first.

He was a caring and generous son, brother, uncle, and friend to those who were fortunate to know him. To his family he was more than a beloved husband or father, he was a best friend, confidant, mentor, and advisor.

Jim is survived by his wife, Paula, of 26 years, his two sons James O’Brien of Plymouth and William Weden, wife Haley and son Declan of Harwich, brother Tommy & Kathy Deckert, their children Kyle and Emerald Ann, formerly of E.
