Obituary for Janice Elaine Tocchio (Hunter)

Janice Elaine (Hunter) Tocchio, a long time resident of Plymouth, MA, died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Benchmark Senior Living in Plymouth. She was 76 years old.

Janice was born on June 1, 1945 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late John Duncan and Thelma Hunter. She grew up on Post Island in Quincy where she developed a love of the beach and the ocean that would stay with her throughout her life. She was a graduate of Quincy High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Tocchio. She enjoyed 38 years of marriage until Robert’s passing in September of 2005. Janice worked in the medical profession.

Janice will be remembered most for her happy, fun loving approach to life. There was nothing she wouldn’t do, from roller coasters to scuba diving to jumping out of an airplane. Janice did it all with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. She enjoyed her home away from home in Englewood, FL, her many friends and she loved to travel, especially to Italy. She was a gentle and caring soul who adored her 5 grandchildren. She was the light of their lives.

Janice is survived by her son, Christopher Tocchio of Waltham Massachusetts, his children Maddox, Domenic and Leila and her daughter, Brandi McCabe of Duxbury Massachusetts, her husband Aron and their children Niamh and Quinn; her siblings, Don and Larry Hunter; her partner Paul Cunningham and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation Hours will be held at Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5 - 7pm.

The family would like to thank the teams at Benchmark Senior Living and Beacon Hospice for the incredible care that they gave to Janice. Memorial donations can be made in Janice’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association.
