Obituary for Jennie P Bugbee (Lizak)

West Brookfield - Jennie P. (Lizak) Bugbee passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 17, 2021 at age 92, to eternally join her recently deceased husband of seventy one years, Francis P. Bugbee, Jr. She was predeceased by her mother, Nellie (Tobias) Lizak, her father, John Lizak, and three brothers Chester, Roman, and Henry Lizak. She will be sorely missed by her children, Bettyjean Rust and her husband Tom, Mark Bugbee and his wife Pamela, grandchildren Jim Rust and fiancé Jess, Courtney Rust and husband Ricky, Kurt Bugbee, Erin Bugbee, and three great grandchildren, Makenna Rust, and June and Louie Federico. Jennie also has several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Jennie was born of Polish immigrant parents who arrived through Ellis Island and settled in the Ware River Valley to begin a new life. She attended Warren High School, graduating as an honor student athlete. There, she met Frank, the love of her life, remaining together for nearly eighty years. Upon high school graduation, she followed Frank to Pensacola, while he was training to be a naval pilot. They became engaged and married in August of 1949, and wasted no time in starting a family with Bettyjean being born in 1950. Jennie was somewhat of a non-conformist by being a working mom at a time when most women stayed home with their children. She spent most of her working years as an administrative assistant at Warren Pumps, retiring in 1989. Continuing with her non-traditional view of life, she had her second child, Mark, seventeen years after her first. The unusually long spread in the age of their children was probably the key to her admirable young-at-heart attitude.

Jennie had a variety of interests and hobbies. She was an expert rug hooker, golfer, and skier, and enjoyed cooking (especially Polish foods) and traveling. She traveled throughout the continental US and Hawaii, most of the European continent, and the Caribbean. She was thrilled to have her last foreign trip be to Poland to reconnect with her roots. Right up until the end, she always had her trip destinations planned for the next ten years. Although she loved taking on new adventures, she was happiest racking up hundreds of thousands of miles co-piloting their car, mostly throughout New England. A ten hour trip to get a lobster roll was the perfect way to spend the day.

Family was Jennie's topmost priority. Her devotion to Frank was legendary, ending with her never leaving his side during his hospice care. When it came to helping out her children and grandchildren, no task was too big, difficult, or inconvenient. She and Frank were so involved in their children's and grandchildren's activities that they often became the focus of attention when Mark and Bj's friends came to their home. She was the observer in the ski boat, the provider of snacks for high school golf teams, super fan at countless basketball, soccer, and field hockey games, and a tireless babysitter for grandkids and granddogs.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the exceptional and caring staff at Mill Hill Residence in West Yarmouth, especially to Suzie for providing warmth and support during our FaceTime calls amidst the pandemic. Additionally, they would like to thank the staff, particularly Erin, at Thirwood Place, South Yarmouth, for giving Jennie a peaceful comfortable home throughout her stay.

A joint funeral service will be held for Jennie and Frank at a later date. Condolences may be expressed to the family on the website WWW.Bartlett1620.com under the obituaries tab. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, Box 540, West Brookfield, 01585.
