Obituary for John Barboza Amado Sr.

John B. Amado, Sr., 79. Formally of Plympton, Pembroke and Hanson, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on January 29, 2020 with family by his side. He was born at home in Hanson, son of the late Ernest, Sr. and Anna Amado. John graduated in 1959 from Whitman High School. He was a former employee of Plymouth Rubber Plant in Canton, and Plymouth County Hospital in Hanson. He previously owned a Janitorial Supply and Cleaning business in Massachusetts and a Pizza and Sandwich Shop in Washington State.

John enjoyed spending time with family, friends, fishing and reading. He also enjoyed visiting with friends at Halifax Pizza. He was a very kind and hard working man. He opened his home to many friends of his children when they were growing up.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Amado, Sr., and daughter, Laurie Amado and companion, Jeff. His brothers, Norman Corey and wife, Yolanda, Ernest Amado, Jr., Gilbert Amado and wife Dina. His sisters Maryann Amado and husband Pedro, Geraldine Amado, and Nancy Amado. His grandchildren, Shannon, Ashley, Michael, Kevin Jr., Christopher, Alex and Alea. Many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and his friend, Paul Ford and wife, Lori. John is predeceased by his son, John B. Amado, Jr.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff at Plymouth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Plymouth, Massachusetts for the care and compassion they provided to John, a/k/a Papa, while he was a resident.

Graveside services will be announced at a later date this summer.
