Obituary for John William Geary Jr.

John Geary, Jr., 77, of Middleboro, passed away at Good Samaritan in Brockton on Thursday, September 1st. He was born in Dorchester, the son of the late Eleanor (Philbrook) and John Geary, Sr.

John grew up in Saint Peter’s Parish, Dorchester, graduating from Cathedral High School in 1962. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army Reserves in March of 1963. Following the reserves, he started working for First National Bank of Boston. After John left First National Bank, he got a job at Pneumatic Scale in Quincy and at night, he worked at the Post Office in South Station in Boston. After he left Pneumatic Scale, he earned his real estate license and briefly sold real estate on the cape until he went to work for Bearings Specialties Co in Canton, where he continued to work until he retired.

John loved fitness and that was a big part of his life. He used to compete in Natural Body Building competitions in his younger years, was a member at various gyms, loved to jog, rollerblade, bike ride, continued walking outdoors and was still an active member at the YMCA in Middleboro. He also loved his family and enjoyed seeing his grandsons playing in sporting events and attending school functions. He was an avid reader, he loved going to the movies, trips to Littleton and Franconia, NH, walking the canal, taking family trips to Disney and lots of amusement parks, loved to discuss and debate politics and enjoyed eating at his favorite spots.

John leaves behind his two beloved children; Heather Hallissey and John, of Plymouth and Patrick Geary and Laurie, of Hudson, NH. He was the loving "Papa" to Evan, Sean and Owen. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna Bausmer of Bridgewater. He is survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 6th from 9-10:30am. A funeral mass will be held at 11am at St. Peter's Church, 86 Court Street, Plymouth, MA. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.
