Obituary for John Anthony Grady

John A. Grady (Jack), of Middleboro, MA died in his home with his wife at his side on April 19, 2020. He was 85 years old.
John is survived by his wife, Harriet Cline Grady and his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Michelle Grady of Centennial, CO, his granddaughter, Avery Grady of Centennial, CO and his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Greg Pigeon of Marshfield, MA, their daughter Alexandra Pigeon of Marshfield, MA. and his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Paul Boucher of Elberon, NJ along with their children Karen Boucher, Edward Boucher and Diane Radice and his brother-in-law, Raymond Cline of Newbury, NH. He is preceded by his parents, John and Irene Grady of Cranston, RI.
John was born on June 4, 1934 in Providence, RI to John and Irene Grady. He was a winning high jumper at Cranston, a lifeguard at Bonnet Shore and a summa cum laude graduate of Providence College. He married Nancy Galligan and moved to Detroit to work at Chrysler in 1956. He was in the ROTC program at Providence College commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
John had management and financial officer positions with various corporations including Raytheon Company. During his executive years, he developed an interest in “small business” and became a consultant to struggling companies both privately and in conjunction with the SBA with particular emphasis on profitability improvement.
John had always enjoyed writing poetry and when he retired, he spent more time focusing on his writing. He also enjoyed his family, dogs, wine, pizza, diet Pepsi and telling stories, not necessarily in that order. He led a good life and enjoyed himself.


There will be a memorial service at a later date to celebrate John's life at the Oak Point Clubhouse in Middleboro.
