Obituary for John Jude McDonough

On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, John Jude McDonough, Jr., passed away at the age of 65. Jay
always loved technology – from the transistor radios he built as a child, to the motorcycles he
worked on as an adult, to the green, sustainable advances that he embraced as a contractor. He
never lacked a new puzzle to solve or philosophy to explore, always keeping his mind active
whether with books or in practice. Just as technology evolved, so did the way he grappled with
social justice, wrestling with new perspectives through the decades as he sought to understand,
respect, and love his fellow man.

A celebration of life will be held when the conditions of the ongoing pandemic make this a safe
and responsible decision.

Jay was born to Claire K. (O’Hagerty) McDonough and John J. McDonough, in Dorchester on
December 5 th , 1955, and was a loving brother to the late Mary Claire (McDonough) Luxton-
Hollander, Eileen (McDonough) Patrie of CT, Maureen McDonough Renaud of Plymouth,
Kevin McDonough of Hanson, Patrick McDonough of Brockton, Lawrence McDonough of
Plymouth, Breida (McDonough) Collins of Hanson, and Francis McDonough of Marshfield. He
leaves behind three children, Tanya McDonough Dillon of Marshfield, Corey McDonough of
Amesbury, and Shane McDonough of Houston, TX, as well as three grandchildren, Ashley
Dillon, Joseph Dillon, and Paris McDonough.

Obituary lovingly written by Jay's son.
