Obituary for Joseph R "Jay" LaFrance

Joseph (Jay) LaFrance died peacefully November 17, 2021 at his home in Hyannis MA , surrounded by good music and the love of his wife and dog and ending his fight with complications from the treatment of metastatic melanoma.
Jay was born in July 10, 1939 in Worcester, MA, growing up in Marblehead, MA. He graduated from the University of Vermont, served in Viêt Nam and enjoyed a career with Pan American World Airways, first as a pilot and subsequently in various management position. He worked for SONY entertainment in NYC until his retirement.
Jay experienced great successes and some things he wished he’d done differently. He loved his children & grandchildren, his dogs, old muscle cars, antiquing and long walks through the woods or on the beach. In 1994 he met Pam Walker at Bear Mountain State Park in New York. They married the following year. These two moderately difficult people who met in mid life, with much hope gone, could not believe their good fortune in being in a relationship that grew stronger and more loving as every year passed.
Loss is the hardest part of love. It can’t exist without love existing first. Loss doesn’t diminish love but makes it shine brighter.
A celebratory gathering will occur at a later date. Donations in Jay’s memory can be made to the Cape Cod Needy Fund.
