Obituary for Joseph Papotto

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Papotto, aged 93, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joseph peacefully departed this life on Thursday, March 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Originally from Randazzo, Italy, Joseph immigrated to the United State in 1960 to be with his wife, Carmela. They made their home in Jamaica Plain until 1971, when Joseph purchased a house and relocated his family to Pembroke, where they resided for over 50 years.

Joseph was a highly skilled carpenter and builder, with a career spanning more than four decades. He crafted some of the most exquisite homes on the south shore, many of which stand as enduring testaments to his craftsmanship. Joseph retired in 1997 and devoted his time to gardening and enjoying precious moments with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of over 65 years, Carmela Papotto of Pembroke; his daughter, Anna Papotto of Pembroke, and her late husband, Michael Delaney; his daughter, Angela Mastrangelo, and her husband, Rock, of Middleton, MA; his son, Mario Papotto, and his wife, Karen, of Kingston, MA. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Joseph Papotto and his wife, Taylor, of Salem, NH; Jenna Gelson and her husband, Chris, of Bourne, MA; Julia Papotto of Kingston, MA; Anthony and Andrew Mastrangelo of Middleton, MA, his cherished great-grandchildren, Scarlett Papotto and Thomas J. Gelson as well as many nieces, nephews and his large extended family both here and in Italy.

We would also like to thank the staff at Stafford Hill Assisted Living in Plymouth and Continuum Hospice for all their support during this difficult time.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday at Our Lady of Angels in Hanover, MA (formerly St. Mary’s), followed by a burial service at Pembroke Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his memory to Alzheimer's & Dementia Association alzfdn.org.
