Kevin Paul Joyce of Cohasset, MA, passed peacefully at home on January 20, 2020 in the company of family. He was 51 years young.
Kevin Paul, also affectionately known as KP or “Poochie,” was the second son of William R. Joyce of Mashpee, MA and Barbara A. Joyce (deceased), formerly of Anguilla, BWI. The fifth of eight children, he grew up in Braintree, MA and graduated from Eastern Nazarene College. He worked in sales before joining his mother on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, where he enjoyed the island life for many years.
Naturally curious and extroverted, Kevin Paul loved a good conversation and engaged in chats with everybody he met. He was equally happy to talk about the Patriots or politics, 70’s music or sleeper stocks, his prosaic thoughts on history and philosophy, or just the day’s weather. Kevin was close with his family throughout his life. He could be relied upon to make his family and friends laugh, no matter the circumstance. We will truly miss his humor, his regular phone calls to share an old memory or just to check in, and last but not least his great hair, of which he was very proud.
KP was a fiercely independent-minded person who lived life on his own terms right to the end. During the last months of his life he remained positive, concentrating on saying goodbye to family, keeping Nurse John and the hospice team entertained, discussing the afterlife with Reverend Maggie, trying (in vain) to comply with his landlord’s smoking policy, and conveying detailed burial instructions to his sister Barb. He felt ready for the next stage of the journey, confident that he would be rejoining loved ones on the other side.
In addition to his father, William Joyce of Mashpee, MA, Kevin Paul leaves behind a daughter, Mary Walls of Austin, TX, and his many sisters and their families: Debra LaMonica of Amherst, MA, Kerry Joyce of Marshfield, MA, Nancy Lafauce of Marshfield, MA, Barbara Joyce of Mashpee, MA, and Lori Galotti of Hanover, MA. In addition to his mother, Barbara Joyce, Kevin was predeceased by his stepmother Kathie, sister Kelly Marie and brother Bill. He will also be remembered by his devoted friend Esmee Fleming of Anguilla.
The family welcomes all to share memories of Kevin Paul on the Bartlett Funeral Home website (www.bartlett1620.com). Burial will be private.
