Obituary for Lillian Crossman (Frayling)

M. Lillian (Frayling) Crossman, currently of Plymouth, MA, formerly of Colrain, MA and Medford, MA, went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2021, as the result of a stroke.

The third of four children born to Ernest and M. Louise (Cooper) Frayling on October 13, 1928, in Somerville, MA. She was the wife of Rev. Ivan H. Crossman for 67 years until his death. She graduated from South Medford High School (MA) and Providence Bible Institute. She continued her education at Greenfield Community College and Westfield State College to complete the requirements to become a certified teacher. Lillian was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Colrain Central School, Colrain, MA for 23 years. She taught for another 10 years as a busy substitute teacher at her adopted school – Carver Elementary School. For many years she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Colrain, MA.

Survivors include her three sons, Mark Crossman (Lily) of New Bedford, MA, Daniel Crossman (Suzanne) of Gloucester, MA, and Paul Crossman (Sue) of Pembroke, MA. In addition, she leaves behind seven grandchildren; Heather Woods (Johan), Jonathan Crossman (Debbie), Laura Crossman, Andrew Crossman (Elizabeth), Peter Crossman, Brennen Crossman, and Gillian Crossman, her four great grandchildren; Phinehas, Emmett, Owen and Hannah Crossman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan and by her siblings and their spouses Ernest (Mabel) Frayling, Alfred (Madeline) Frayling and Francis (Vincent) Hawker.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Colrain, MA.
