Loretta F. (Harman) Childs, February 5, 1939 - December 17, 2021 Loretta (Sue) Childs, 82, died on Friday, December 17, 2021, surrounded by her family at her home in Centerville, MA after a courageous, brief battle with cancer. Sue was born in Boston and moved to Centerville, MA with her family. She graduated from Barnstable High School. She married her high school sweetheart and next-door neighbor, Randy. They started Associated Alarm Systems in 1968, now owned by their daughter and son. In 1975, they started and built a successful 24-hour alarm monitoring business, Central Station of Cape Cod. In the early years, Sue would work the midnight shift, raising their 4 children by day.  She also owned and operated Answering Service of Cape Cod for many years.   Sue was a devoted wife and mother, and she adored her grandchildren. She was an avid knitter and seamstress, loved photography and making meals for her family. On Sunday mornings she would make her famous egg sandwiches bringing together all the family generations. She was known as the 'lady with the shoebox' - filled with homemade congo bars that she loved to deliver and share with her friends. She helped Randy build their beautiful home on the lake, taking over 6 years to finish, together with family and friends. She hosted many family reunions during the summer, at the lake, with her sister, Rose. Upon retiring, she traveled cross-country several times with her husband in their 5th wheel camper exploring the country. On one memorable trip, she came extremely close to a huge buffalo, capturing the perfect photograph. Later, she enjoyed watching the swans on the lake, riding in her pontoon boat, doing a 1-minute plank, attending Saturday mass, walking with her best friend, Pat and taking special drives to sample the Cape's best ice cream. She was a sweet, caring woman who always put her family and her home first.  She was born February 5, 1939 in Boston, MA to her parents Mary and Lawrence Harman, Sr. who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, her sisters Julie Harman and Rosemary Sullivan and her oldest son, Robert R. Childs. Susie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Randolph Childs of Centerville, MA, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Scott Tynell of Falmouth, MA, her daughter, Kelly Keane of Cotuit, MA, and her son and daughter-in law, Richard & Andrea Childs of Marstons Mills, MA. She is survived by her grandchildren, Chris Tynell, Alex Tynell, Lauren Keane and Austin Keane and her brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence Harman, Jr. and Donna Harman of Boston, MA, her brother-in-law Mark Sullivan of Falmouth, MA, and Kathy and Ken Hallman, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law of South Yarmouth, MA. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. A private funeral mass was held at Our Lady of Hope in West Barnstable on December 29, 2021. Donations may be made in her name to the VNA of Cape Cod or Rotary International.
