Obituary for Mark Joseph Maresco

Mark J. Maresco, 64, of Plymouth died unexpectedly at home on April 12, 2022. Born on March 2, 1958 in The Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (LaSorsa) Maresco.
In The Bronx, Mark attended his local Catholic school St. Phillip Neri and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1976. He graduated from Iona College in 1980 and earned his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mark began his 36 year career in finance with Salomon Brothers in New York and continued on with the IBM Retirement Fund in Connecticut. After 22 years, Mark retired from Wellington Management Company in 2016 in Boston and declared that after wearing a tie every day since kindergarten in 1963, that he would never wear one again.
Growing up in The Bronx, Mark was a lifelong Yankees and New York sports fan though could sometimes be found rooting for his adopted hometown Boston Bruins. He loved watching Seinfeld and referencing obscure quotes from episodes throughout the day, a favorite being “These pretzels are making me thirsty”! An avid reader of as many newspapers as he could find culminated in a later in life hobby of doing the daily crossword puzzle with his wife. Mark was a frequent traveler to Las Vegas and Puerto Rico where he would waste time at the craps table while he said his wife made her donation to Let It Ride. Some of his happiest times were spent with his wife in Italy and Hawaii and bringing his family on summer beach trips after retirement (when the grandkids weren’t arguing and the air conditioning was working!). At home he enjoyed keeping up with the stock market, caring for his plants, exercising, golfing and finding new things to recycle. Mark was keeping track of his steps walked and was on a quest to reach the Earth’s Core with 477 miles remaining of the 3,958. His all-time favorite thing to do was to be with his grandchildren and help his family in any way they needed.
