Obituary for Mary Sanderson (Gosselin)

Mary S. (Gosselin) Sanderson of Plymouth, MA passed away peacefully at her home on May
2nd, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Beloved wife of Robert M. Sanderson
of Plymouth, loving mother of Jared A. Bordeau of Norton and Jesse S. Bordeau and his wife
Kerri of Quincy, and cherished grandmother of Gabriel C. Bordeau of Quincy. Mary was born in
Springfield in 1957 and grew up in Western Massachusetts, eventually attending UMass-
Amherst, as well as Fitchburg State University, where she received her Masters’ degree in
Counseling in 1998. As an MSW, she spent the majority of her career, including the final stage,
as the Director of Social Services at Newfield House in Plymouth, where she was dedicated to
helping the elderly and their families cope with the difficult transitions in the latter years of life.
Mary was a goal-oriented individual who was seldom seen at rest; she had a deep passion for
sports, especially golf, spending many happy afternoons perfecting her game at practice ranges
and playing Widow’s Walk Golf Course. She enjoyed nature, gardening, shopping, and interior
decorating, as well as walking on the beach with her beloved dogs, Teddy and Lola, and in more
recent years, spending time with her beloved grandson. She was predeceased by her mother,
Ruth E. McAllister of Springfield. She is also survived by her extended family, including siblings
Karen Baldwin and her husband Barry of Hardwick, VT, Gayle Grass of Sullivan, NH, and Chris
Gosselin of Hardwick, VT; niece Tamara Grimard and great niece Sophia Grimard of Greenfield;
mother-in-law, Lorraine A. Sanderson of South Deerfield, brother-in law, Gary Sanderson and
his wife Joanne of Greenfield, sister-in law, Amy Sanderson of South Deerfield, and brother-in
law, Martin Sanderson of South Deerfield. Mary’s final resting place will be with family in South
Deerfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Scituate Animal
Shelter or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
