Michael Lunedei, 70, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at his home in Sagamore, MA. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen who died on April 18, 2020.
Michael was a lifelong resident of Sagamore. He began his commercial fishing career at a young age and owned and operated his fishing vessel 3 & 1 out of the Sandwich Basin for many years. Michael eventually became a transportation contractor for the U.S. Postal Service where he owned and operated postal contracts on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.
Helen was raised in Sandwich and worked in the Bourne Public Schools for many years. Her career started at the Ella F. Hoxie School in Sagamore Beach, then she continued at James F. Peebles Elementary School after the closing of the Hoxie School.
Michael and Helen leave their daughter Bonnie Bergman and son Gus and his wife Judy. They are survived by their five grandchildren Rachel, Jake, Brooke, Bree and Doug. Michael leaves his siblings Danny, Peter, Arlene, Lisa, John and Joey. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul and David. Helen leaves her siblings Linda, Wayne and Claire and she preceded her brother Kenny in death. They also leave many nieces and nephews.
Michael and Helen enjoyed their spontaneous trips to Maine and throughout New England. Most of all they loved spending time with their grandchildren and always cheering them on and supporting them with everything they did.
Funeral services will be private.
