Obituary for Montgomery James Tewksbury
Montgomery J. Tewksbury “Monty T”, 69, of Dorchester MA, passed away August 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer.
Monty was born on September 13, 1952, in Boston Massachusetts, as the fourth child, and first son of the late Montgomery Tewksbury and Margaret (Madden) Tewksbury. He was a dedicated Teamster of Boston’s Local 25. Monty loved that dirty water, all things Red Sox and Boston was in fact, his home.
Everyone Monty knew will greatly cherish his impact on their lives, either though love, friendship, mentorship, storytelling, or his humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Montgomery and Margaret Tewksbury, his son Montgomery jr., his sisters Barbara BeDugnis , and Ellen Tewksbury.
He is survived by his siblings Kathy Zantuhos (Sanford, ME)Donna Gosselin (E. Bridgewater, MA), Penny Beale (Attleboro, MA), Steven Tewksbury (Walpole, MA),Michael Tewksbury (Holiday, FL), Elizabeth Jeanetti (Quincy, MA) and Nancy Rampino (Plymouth, MA).
There are also several nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.
A prayer service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. September 9, 2022 at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston. A celebration of life will follow at Castle Island; as the ocean is a place Monty always found happiness.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The American Cancer Society in his memory. In addition, Monty would like you to play a game of Cribbage or Backgammon in his honor. If you don’t know how, he would love for you to learn, so we can all play together again one day.
