Obituary for Nancy Haddad (Harrington)

Heaven gained another angel on Friday, May 24th, 2019, when Nancy Ann (Harrington) Haddad, 65, was called from this earth while surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on the Fourth of July, 1953, and she grew up next door to her beloved husband and best friend, Victor Haddad, in Dorchester (MA) and spent their 49 years of marriage in Quincy (MA), Duxbury (MA), Charlotte (NC) and finally Harwich (MA), where she spent her remaining days.

Nancy enjoyed reading, working in the yard, gambling, traveling, telling wonderful stories and she absolutely loved dancing. Most notably, being the night person that she was, she enjoyed formulating pranks using Christmas decorations for the 24 nights before Christmas, with the intentions of scaring the life out of Victor each morning. It was her way to be there with him at the “other” 6 O’clock. Additionally, she volunteered at the food pantry, delivered meals to those less fortunate at Thanksgiving and was sure to continuously perform random acts of kindness, such as filling baskets to the brim with necessities and delivering them to families in need, dropping off coffee to officers on detail and making sure to keep everyone laughing regardless of what life threw their way. Her never-ending selflessness and contagious spirit will live on and leave a special place in the hearts of her loving immediate and extended family, friends and all the multitude of lives that Nancy touched with her glowing presence.

Nancy’s life was focused on her husband, children, and later in life, her grandchildren. She was the most loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend that anyone could ever ask for. Although her main priority was wife, mom and homemaker, she had quite a few jobs over the years, including owning a daycare and working with special needs children for the Dennis-Yarmouth district for 20 years. Nancy had the patience of a saint and would go out of her way to help anyone in need. She was so thoughtful and kind and loved her family and friends unconditionally, never expecting anything in return.

She now resides in heaven with all the family and friends that have gone before her and has been elected president of the welcome committee, where she will continue to blow her whistle and thoroughly entertain all with her amazing renditions of Ave Maria, cocktail craft corners, mystery rides and so many other creative adventures that never cease to amaze any that were lucky enough to be part of Nancy’s life.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Church located at 86 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360 on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10 am. Immediately following the services, from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, there will be a celebration of life in Nancy’s honor at Alden Park, 160 Colony Place, Plymouth, MA 02360.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy’s honor can be made to: The Dennis-Yarmouth School Special Needs Program. Please make checks payable to DYRSD and mail to 26 Short Street, West Yarmouth, MA. 02673.
