Nancy Smith Lovejoy of Newfield House, Plymouth, died on Thursday November 2, 2023; she had turned 96 two days previous. Born Nancy Warren Smith to Esther Butterworth and Hayden Newhall Smith on October 31, 1927, in New York City, Mrs. Lovejoy attended the Green Vale School, Glen Head, Long Island, The Westover School, and Bennington College, leaving the last to marry Dr. Orlando Pelliccia, Jr. of New Haven CT in 1946; the marriage produced three children, Orlando III, Annunciata (Nancy) Rosa Urann, and Hayden Newhall, and ended by divorce in 1969. In 1971 she married John Moulton Lovejoy, of Wilbraham MA; her second marriage produced a son, Benjamin Cheever.. Mrs. Lovejoy was predeceased by her husband in 2020; at that time she moved from Wilbraham to Newfield House, to be near her daughter Nancy Urann. She is survived by her younger brother, William Hayden Smith of Washington CT, her four children, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
