Obituary for Nancy Ellen Reiss (Kendrick)

Nancy Ellen Kendrick Reiss
 August 12, 1943 – June 28, 2021

Loving wife, devoted mother and loyal friend, Nancy Ellen Kendrick Reiss passed away at home on June 28th surrounded by her loved ones.

Nancy was born to the late George Carleton Kendrick and Grace Lacrosse Kendrick on August 12, 1943, in Natick, Massachusetts. She graduated from the Walnut Hill School and later with a Bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College in 1965.

Upon graduation she married Paul William Reiss of Greenwich, Connecticut. They resided in Yonkers, New York where she taught Junior High School. The couple then lived in Norfolk, Virginia and Anaheim, California while her husband fulfilled his military obligation serving in the United States Navy. They eventually settled in Stamford, Connecticut.

Nancy was a dedicated wife and mother who was immensely proud of her family. She treasured time with her children and enthusiastically embraced the role of Nana. She was a generous spirit who created beautiful memories by sharing her love of Cape Cod, and the lake region of NH, where she spent many happy summers. And then ultimately living her dream – residing full time on Cape Cod in Dennis and Yarmouth Port - for the past 28 years.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years and their four children: Paul William Reiss, Jr. of Brewster, Massachusetts; Jennifer Anne Reiss of Brookline, Massachusetts; John Peter Reiss and his wife Amanda Huling Reiss, of Wakefield, Massachusetts; and Peter John Reiss, also of Wakefield. Nancy also leaves her beloved younger brother, George Kendrick, Jr. and his wife Cay Kendrick of Vinyl Haven, Maine. She is also survived by four grandchildren who were sparkling bright lights in her life: Jack, Kelly, Walter and Wyeth.

Interment will be private at the National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the VNA of Cape Cod Hospice & Palliative Care.
