Obituary for Patricia M O'Rourke
Patricia “Pat” M. O’Rourke (nee Foran) , 75, passed away on January 6, 2021 at her home in Plymouth,
MA. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.
Pat was the oldest of four children, born to John and Margaret Foran, of Dorchester, MA. She is survived
by her three brothers, Jack Foran, Mike Foran, and Brian Foran (Robin). She also leaves behind her three
children, Michael O’Rourke of Plymouth, MA. (Gail), David O’Rourke of Centennial, CO. (Betsy), and
Kerry Bragiel of Arvada, CO. (Steve). She was a proud Nana to her four grandchildren, Meaghan, Sean,
Maeve and Riley O’Rourke, and aunt to nieces and nephews.
After graduating St Katherine High School, Pat attended and graduated from Boston City Nursing
School. She spent her entire career as an operating room nurse at the Jordan Hospital (BDI-Plymouth).
Hardworking, compassionate and diligent, Pat excelled at the job she loved and made lifelong friends
that she still enjoyed having lunch and laughs with.
Pat loved hiking, traveling, drinking wine, and spending time with friends and loved ones. She was the
beach girl with a great tan that, after she retired, found a passion for hiking. A devoted member of her
walking group, Friends of Hallway Pond, she was always excited to find new trails, help set up bird
houses and benches, find rocks and enjoy the outdoors with her friends. Pat loved getting away with
friends and family, whether it be in one of many cruises or trips, as long as there was a glass of wine and
someone to share the laughs with.
There is not a formal service to celebrate Pat’s life planned at this time, and in lieu of flowers the family
is asking for donations to Wildlands Trust (wildlandstrust.org).
Special thanks are given to all of the friends and family who were part of the support and love that she
always felt, but especially through the hard times. The weekly cards in the mail, the delivery of flowers,
the homemade soups, rocks found on hikes, all lifted her spirits and helped keep her optimistic attitude.
As Pat would surely appreciate, the nursing care from hospice was a tremendous gift to her children.
Mike, Dave and Kerry – all of Pat’s loved ones – will miss her dearly, but will keep with tradition and
always raise a glass and celebrate those close to us every chance we get!
