Obituary for Patricia Ann Viirre (Richards)
Patricia Ann “Penny” (Richards) Viirre, 73, of Sandwich, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Pavilion Nursing Home after a decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to William D. Viirre.
Born in Stoughton, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mildred E. (White) Richards, she grew up in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School, before moving to the Cape in the early 70’s.
Penny and Bill loved spending time at their mountain hideaway in New Hampshire, snowmobiling, and spending time with friends up there. Weekends were spent going to car shows and cruise nights, and she especially loved long rides in the street rod.
Sister to Charles and Paula Richards, Jr. of Bellingham, MA and Paul and Andrea Richards of Carolina Shores, NC, sister- and brother-in-law Carol (Viirre) and Thomas Myers of Ronan, MT, and the late Frances (Richards) George of Middleboro; loving mother of John and his wife Kristen Alexander of Sandwich, Stacy Alexander Fitch of Bourne, and Jennifer Alexander of Anderson, SC; devoted nana of six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
There are no services planned at this time, but a Celebration of Life may be scheduled at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.org) for research, education, and treatment.
