Rebecca Lee Kershaw of Centerville passed away peacefully on April 27th, 2021 in the comfort of her family after enduring a health decline over the past several years. No matter how difficult her days may have been, she would grace all with her smile when friends came to visit or during the lighthearted banter that took place in our home.
Born in Marietta, Ohio in 1945, she and her family moved to Zanesville, Ohio years later. Becky then relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she met her future husband, Robert Kershaw, while they both worked for Stouffer Food Corporation at The Top of the Center Restaurant.
Months after their marriage in 1973, they moved to Long Island, N.Y. for a short period of time prior to locating to Centerville where they spent the next 47 years together enjoying their lives on Cape Cod in the same home that they had resided in since 1975.
Rebecca was a dedicated and accomplished gardener who would spend much of her time nurturing her flower gardens and working tirelessly maintaining the beautiful landscaping surrounding her home.
She also possessed a natural talent for artistic design, and much of her work is still exhibited at Sam Diego’s Mexican Cookery & Bar in Hyannis where her husband worked as General Manager and remains a Co-Owner.
There were very few days that she was not in the company of one of her many beloved pet dogs or cats that she loved so greatly. Morning walks with her German Shepard, Dakota, who far outweighed her, would include her taking newspapers from the end of elderly neighbor’s driveways to their front steps so that they did not have to venture too far outside.
She had a good heart, a great smile, sparkling blue eyes and a quick and witty sense of humor.
Rebecca is survived by her husband Robert Kershaw, daughter Megan Kershaw of Sandwich, Ma., Meredith Kershaw of Valencia, Spain, along with Meredith’s husband Ramone, grandsons; Teo and Robert, her daughter Lori Helsel of Bloomingburg, Ohio, her husband Ronald along with grandchildren; Hanna, Nathan and Jacob.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Luther and Frances Becker, her twin brother Robert Becker, her older brother Donald Becker, her sister Julia Sauvé and her grandson Joshua Helsel.
Her family extends their gratitude for the kindness and care provided by her VNA Hospice team.
Due to the current public health concerns and the need for social distancing, there will be no services at this time. Her immediate family and close friends will gather at a future date to pay tribute to her memory and the love that she shared with all.
Any donation in her honor can be made to the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod.
