Obituary for Richard Brady

Richard James Brady

May 11, 1953 – May 16, 2023

Richard Brady, of Rockland MA, son of the late John and Gertrude (Sullivan) Brady, brother of the late Lorraine (Brady) Virgilio and Michael Brady, and husband to the late Charlene (Cleary) Brady, peacefully passed away at the age of 70 after a valiant two year long battle with ALS.

He is survived by his 4 children, Melissa Brady of Quincy, Leanne (Scott) LaRosa of Plymouth, Shawn Brady of Rochester, and Katelyn (Michael) Sweeney of Dorchester. He was a loving Papa to all of his grandchildren; Brady Hayward, Austin and Rocky LaRosa (with whom he loved playing video games) as well as Kaylee, Brianna, Ashton, Nolan, and Aryana of Florida. He was a beloved uncle, stepfather, dad, and friend to so many and will be missed by all the lives he touched.

Rich was a graduate of Rockland High School, and served in the Air Force after graduating. He was always a hard worker whether operating a forklift, or providing pest control. His true happiness came with celebrations of any kind. He loved hosting Christmas parties with family and having poker nights with the guys. He could never pass up a karaoke night with his wife Charlene.

He also enjoyed finishing crossword puzzles in the morning paper and was always ready for a game of golf. He stayed loyal to his favorite Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Celtics, while living in Florida for the past 20 years.

Rich was such an impactful presence. He will be missed, loved and remembered by his family with fun, wonderful memories. His sense of humor was one of a kind and always made everyone laugh with his quick wit and sometimes inappropriate humor.

There will be a celebration of Life for Rich, and all are welcome to stop in to pay your respects to the family and share a memory June 3rd at the Rockland Golf course function room from 5-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers, Rich asked that donations be made to Charlene’s Dream in Flagler County FL Here is the link if you wish to do so Charlenesdream.com
