Obituary for Richard Anthony DeLeo

Richard Anthony DeLeo, 74, of Kingston, MA, a longtime resident of Washingtonville, NY, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 9, 2020.

Born in the Bronx, NY, on July 31, 1945, to Ben and Theresa DeLeo, he went on to marry Linda Giannico, the love of his life and best friend, on September 28, 1968 in Yonkers, NY. In addition to his loving wife Linda, he is survived by his son Richard Jr. and his wife Maura, his daughter Stephanie, and his three adoring grandchildren Ashley, Samantha, and Brayden. He is also survived by his aunt Anne Fidanza, and her daughters Caroline, Jackie and her husband Jon, sister-in-law Linda and nieces and nephews Jessie and Bryan Watson and Laura and Jason Dobrindt. Rich was predeceased by his brother Gerald DeLeo and uncle William Fidanza. He touched so many lives and was blessed to leave behind many close family and friends.

While Rich had a rewarding 30 year career at IBM and went on to work another 10 years with Graphic Management Partners, he will be remembered for his selflessness and the kindness and warmth he showed others. A larger than life personality, he could always be counted on for that well-timed hug, a pat on the back, or wisdom to guide you in the right direction. Together for more than 52 years, Rich and Linda built a beautiful life. He loved his family with all his heart and his grandchildren were the light that kept him shining.

“The best portion of a good man’s life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” If you were lucky enough to have Rich in your life, you know this exemplifies how he lived.

A Celebration of Life befitting a wonderful man will be held when the world heals. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Rich’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Cranberry Hospice of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
