Richard N. Doonan Jr. formerly of Malden, resided in Plymouth, MA for
37 years before moving to Punta Gorda, Florida. He was married to the
former Joan Murphy Doonan(Stoneham) for 60 years. Richard and Joan
owned and operated Sandy Pond Campground in Plymouth before
retiring to Florida in 1995 and turning over the running of the business
to his son and daughter in law.
Mr. Doonan was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, he attended Newman
Preparatory School in Boston and graduated from Mass Radio and Telegraph School in 1957.
He was a former employee of Raytheon and served in the National
Guard. He owned and operated Doonan TV Repair in Plymouth with
his father the late Richard N Doonan Sr. before building the
campground. For many years he was active in local politics and had a
love camping, electronics, real estate and people.
Richard is survived by his daughter Justine Neves and her husband
Domingo Neves of Sandwich, son Richard N. Doonan III and his wife
Jane of Plymouth, Edward Doonan and his wife Sharon of Plymouth,
and son Scott Doonan of Bourne. Richard had 13 grandchildren and 5
great grandchildren, who will all miss him and his awesome golf cart
rides around the park.
