Obituary for Richard C McEvoy

Richard McEvoy, 62, of Plymouth, MA passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 3, 2023, after a difficult battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Richard was born on April 22, 1960, in Quincy MA to Robert and Virginia McEvoy. He graduated from North Quincy High and Curry College. He moved to Plymouth with his family, where he lived for over 30 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. For all that knew him, he had an enormous heart. He was a soft-spoken man, but the best person to sit next to at a party. He was known for his amazing wood-working abilities and had a knack for reinventing furniture into beautiful pieces. He was a huge country music fan, but loved all music from jazz to the blues. If you ever needed a great suggestion, he had a list ready for you. He recently enjoyed watching his energetic granddaughter learn and grow.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother Virginia, his father Robert, and his sister Donna, but leaves behind a family that cherished him. Richard is a survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary as well as his children Melissa (Selvin) Sandoval, Richard McEvoy, and his granddaughter Selena. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Robert (Barbara) McEvoy, Carol (James) McEachern, Charles (Denise) McEvoy, and Susan (Michael) Kearns, and many nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association.

Arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9th from 4-6 pm. A memorial service will be held at Faith Community Church in Plymouth on Friday March 10th at 10 am.
