Robert W Alger, 58, died Monday, June 26th, unexpectedly at his home in Plymouth, MA. Bob was a Brant Rock native, graduating in the class of 1983 from Marshfield High School. He joined the US Army shortly after and often reminisced on his time stationed in Georgia. After being honorably discharged, he moved back home, took some time in his brother’s camper, and then started his career at a local cable company, Adelphia. It was there that he met the love of his life, Amy. He continued his work in the telecommunication field until he retired early due to a back injury.

Bob was an enthusiastic hobbyist and enjoyed many pastimes in his years. He was an avid big foot fan who searched for him throughout New England and more recently Oregon. He was a rock historian and photographer, amateur beekeeper, and devotee of the Phoenician culture. His earliest years saw him attend many a flea market which led to a life rich in treasures. Later he was a member and one of the founding fathers of the International Phant Society. He also was a member of the Lantern Ghost tours for a time and founded Pilgrim Paranormal Research with his friends researching many a location in SE Massachusetts including Burial Hill and the Spooner House Museum. He was an avid believer in Aliens, loved to watch Ancient Aliens, and also attended their Baltimore Aliencon. You could often find Bob listening to his portable radio, passed down from his mother, Iba, and was a proud supporter of his local NPR. Jim and Margery will miss him.

Bob was devoted to his family and is survived by his wife, Amy, of 28 years, and his pride and joy were his two children, Marissa Alger and her fiancé Casey Kaczmarek of Albany, OR, and Brent Alger and his partner Lindsey Augustine of Dartmouth, MA. He could and often did, let everyone know all about their adventures and how proud he was of his babies, and to Riss and Brent, he was their hero. He was born to Frederick and Iba M. (Clapper) Alger of Brant Rock, MA on November 23, 1964. He is survived by his brother Frederick and wife Fran, formerly of Pembroke, MA, and now in VT, his brother Donald and his wife Ely of Weymouth, and his sister Deborah Joyce of Carver, MA.
