Obituary

Robert Wilfred Major passed away on June 20, 2020. Kind, generous, and civic minded, he was
passionate about politics and the care of animals. Bob is survived by his long-term partner,
Patricia Hogan, his children, Marlene Major, Maureen Schlesinger, Mark Major, and their
mother Kathleen M. Tierney Major, as well as Patricia’s children, Terri Hogan, Steve Hogan,
Shawn Hogan. Grand grandchildren include Aaron Schlesinger, his wife Michelle, Adam
Schlesinger, Caroline Marsh and Ben Marsh, Mitchel Major and Madalyn Rose Major.
Patricia’s grandchildren include Daniel Hogan and Jade Hogan, Brandon Hogan and Devon
Hogan. He was also the beloved brother of the late Lois T. Magner and her husband, and Bob’s
best friend, Robert Magner, as well as the late Muriel Marchand and her deceased husband,
Leon. His son-in-law, Shihab Ahmed, also mourns the loss. He leaves behind many nieces and
nephews.

Bob served in the Coast Guard during peacetime and then worked as a chemical worker at ICI for many years. He found his calling in retirement when he worked as a parking clerk at
Bridgewater State University. As a man of books, he greatly enjoyed conversations with BSU
faculty, staff and students. His curiosity also fueled his leisure activities - he was a long-term
member of the Boston Museum of Science. In his later years Bob expressed his gratitude for
having lived a good life. Bob will be greatly missed and his love will live on in his family and
friends. Memorial donations may be made to MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center, 350
South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.

My heart goes out Pat, Bob was her beloved for many years. Bob was a kind, wonderful friend, always happy to share time and laughter. Bob was so proud of his son and daughters and delighted in their accomplishments. I will miss you, dear friend. RIP
